The Assistant Principal / Curriculum Coordinator is responsible for supporting instructional leadership across all subject areas. Position objectives include studying, evaluating, and implementing research based curriculum and instruction; providing leadership in the development, articulation, and implementation of an instructional program; improving the instructional program by assisting with program evaluation; and assisting in the coordination of relevant staff development and evaluation. The Curriculum Coordinator supports the leadership team in daily school operations, as needed.
REPORTS TO: Head of School
WORK SCHEDULE: 192 day contract. Summer hours required, days/times as agreed upon with the Head of School.
SUPERVISES: Paraprofessionals/support staff as assigned by the Head of School
Candidates for this position will have:
- A Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in curriculum and instruction
- Minimum of 5 years work experience as an elementary and/or middle school classroom teacher
- Familiarity and experience working in multiple grade levels and grade level curriculum
- Good interpersonal skills working with adults and children
- Successful results of criminal and employment background check
- Comfortable working in a learning environment as part of a team
- Ability to lead a team meeting with staff and/or parents
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Student Information System (SIS) and email communications
- Has the ability to organize and prioritize multiple assignments
- Is extremely organized, process driven, and detail oriented
- Special Education knowledge/experience preferred
- Candidates possessing NH state certification (or state with reciprocity) or Statement of Eligibility in Curriculum Coordinator, Assistant Principal, Principal and/or Special Education Administration will be given preference
Job Description/Core Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development & Alignment:
- Focus on developing and refining the curriculum to ensure it aligns with state standards and school goals.
- Organize regular feedback loops with teachers to address curriculum gaps.
- Works with building principals and teams to develop and implement the school improvement process (data analysis, goal setting, action plans, etc)
- Takes the lead in organization and inventory of school curricula and dissemination of the resources as needed
Teacher and Administrative Support & Teacher Mentoring:
- Actively participate in classrooms to model best practices, provide coaching on classroom best practices in teaching strategies, lesson planning, and understanding formative and summative assessments and their uses
- Oversees support staff evaluations/individual goal setting and review, walkthroughs, observation and mentoring of support staff as needed
- Student discipline in absence of the school building administrator
- Ability to effectively communicate with parents and facilitate meetings, as needed
- Assist with staff absences and coverage needs of assigned building, in absence of the building administrator
- Attend school community events and conduct Open House/Admissions presentations/tours as needed
- Any other duties as assigned by the Head of School and building administrator
Data Collection & Analysis:
- Analyze educational data to track progress, identify areas of improvement, and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
- Assist with data collection and RTI implementation – PLC meetings
- Assist with identifying, assessing and implementing progress monitoring measures to best identify and track student growth
Professional Development:
- Organize training sessions and professional development opportunities for staff, aligned with curriculum goals.
- Research best practices in curriculum trends
- Participates in and successfully completes curriculum training programs offered to increase skill and proficiency related to assignments and in order to bring best practices back to the school staff
- Conducts in-house trainings for staff professional development
Administration & Compliance:
- Assist with state and internal reporting related to curriculum and assessments, ensuring all compliance requirements are met.
- State Testing: Assist in overseeing state assessments for the school, tracking rosters, training staff on proctoring requirements, scheduling, oversee administration of tests, and all other duties associated
