Elementary Teacher – Grades 2-4

Job Summary: The Elementary Classroom Teacher is responsible for creating a nurturing, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that fosters academic, social, and emotional growth. The teacher will plan and implement instruction in core subject areas (English Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies), aligned to New Hampshire State Standards and district curricula, while meeting the diverse needs of all learners.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Plan and deliver high-quality instruction in all core subjects following the NH state standards and district curriculum.
  2. Foster a safe and supportive classroom community that promotes student responsibility, cooperation, and respect.
  3. Differentiate instruction to meet the learning needs of all students, including English Learners, students with disabilities, and advanced learners.
  4. Use a variety of instructional strategies, including guided reading, math manipulatives, small group instruction, and technology integration.
  5. Create and maintain lesson plans that support the development of foundational skills and critical thinking.
  6. Administer and interpret assessments to inform instruction and track student progress.
  7. Communicate regularly with families regarding student growth, classroom activities, and school events.
  8. Collaborate with grade-level teams, special educators, and support staff.
  9. Participate in school-based professional development and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
  10. Maintain accurate and complete records including grades, attendance, and behavior documentation.
  11. Uphold school and district policies, procedures, and expectations.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or related field
  • Valid New Hampshire Educator License in Elementary Education (K–6 or K–8 depending on district grade levels)
  • Understanding of child development and best instructional practices for elementary learners
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families

 

Preferred:

  • Experience in an elementary classroom setting
  • Familiarity with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)
  • Experience with curriculum programs such as Fundations, Bridges Math, FOSS Science, or similar
  • Proficiency with educational technology (Google Workspace, Seesaw, interactive whiteboards, etc.)

 

Working Conditions:

  • Classroom-based instruction with occasional duties beyond the classroom (e.g., recess, lunch, bus duty)
  • Participation in evening family engagement events or conferences
