Welcome Families and Students,
My name is Mrs. Robson and I am delighted to welcome you to 4th grade at MACS! We are going to enjoy a beautiful year together filled with learning and fun.
I received my bachelor’s degree in elementary and special education from Rivier University in 2004 and my master’s degree in reading and language instruction from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell in 2009. I began my teaching career as an elementary special education teacher. This is where I met my husband James, who is also an educator. I taught 5th grade for four years. After procuring my master’s degree, I worked as a reading specialist supporting children in the Title I reading program. I then participated in a yearlong training program called Reading Recovery and became a certified instructor through the Reading Recovery Council of North America. I taught Reading Recovery for two years. I re-entered the classroom once more and taught 2nd grade for two years before taking a sabbatical from education to raise my young family.
I have the privilege of loving and guiding my two daughters, Daisy (age 12) and Emmaline (age 9). Our family lives in Pepperell, Massachusetts with our dog Gracie. Daisy and Emmaline are joining the MACS community this year as well. Both girls attended a Montessori school for many years. During their time there, I worked as a substitute teacher and then as an assistant guide at their school. I took my Montessori training and worked as a primary lead guide for children ages 2-6.
During my leisure time, I enjoy cooking, reading, photography, crafts, spending time with my family, and taking Gracie for walks. I love visiting the ocean, sipping coffee at the bookstore, and relaxing on my back porch. I adore books and am passionate about literacy instruction. My favorite children’s author and illustrator is Patricia Polacco. Her stories and drawings are inspirational. During the months we spent at home during the pandemic, I learned how to create my own podcast. You can listen to me read a few of my favorite stories aloud at the link below:
I am committed to establishing an emotionally safe learning environment where all children are able to grow and thrive. I model respect, grace, and courtesy in all of my actions and interactions and support the students in honoring every person’s dignity. The citizens of our classroom make up our school family and together we will support each community member in soaring to great heights this year! Together everyone succeeds!
With love and partnership,
Mrs. Robson
